Bullet points are simple and easy to digest

- I got a first class honours result, thanks to the help of my supervisors who are super.

- I got a PhD scholarship which I'll be starting next semester. I will be studying the impact of climate change on rainforest moths. Study sites will go from NSW up to PNG, I can't wait.

- I'm housesitting again, looking after little bald cats is nice, so is swanning about sipping gin by the pool.

- I have red hair now

- It's really hard to take photos of a cat that will not sit still.
PA280052

PA250033

- I'm supposed to be writing journal articles. I should have 3 published soon.

My thesis is due in 6 weeks. I go through bouts of extreme anxiousness, followed by confidence, then apathy, then productiveness. But I'm making progress on a few things.

I can't wait until summer. I'm going to spend days and days laying around in in different positions, in different locations reading and sewing and sipping on gin and juice.

I can't wait to go to the beach! and Melbourne! and I'll go up to Lamington and help do more field work

I hope I can pull it off.

Here's some pictures of nice things.

If you were considering chopping off some part of my body and eating it for sexual pleasure, you can't have my fingers. I need them.

Soy is the devil!
[info]allergy_eleven
I thought I'd open with a bit of sensationalism.

Anyway I haven't eaten soy products for months. It doesn't really matter if it's organic or not, the problem is in the soybean.

I've been reading up and there's heaps of stuff from reputiable sources that say soy is no good. It contains many toxins that are very bad for your body. Protease inhibitors(linked with cancer), phytates (inhibiting your uptake of iron, calcium, magnesium and zinc), Manganese (can cause brain damage in children) phytoestrogens (effect endocrine system - promoting breast cancer and are antithyroid agents) and soy increases your requirement for B12. That's a really brief list, it's also very bad for babies and soy is fed to them in formula.

There has been a shitload of misinformation fed to us since the 80s about the health benefits of soy. It's a big industry so it doesn't surprise me.

Bento A GO GO 2

Lunchbox of happy love.

BENTO YO )

Tickets to Nick Cave go on sale Friday.

Check it:

"This October, Nick Cave (Solo) and Grinderman head to Australia for a show that has two completely different prisms in one evening and on one intimate stage. Each of these special shows will open with a Nick Cave Solo set which sees Nick holding court from behind the concert grand piano as he did here back in January of 2000, with his solo line up of Warren Ellis, Marty Casey and Jim Sclavunos.

After this “solo” set, Nick Cave will emerge to become one quarter of Grinderman.

Many of your Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds favorites reinterpreted in singular style by Nick at the piano, followed by the full-blown machine known as Grinderman. What more can you want?"

SO this is my first foray into the exciting world of Bento.
My first bento box arrived yesterday. It says:

Little fishes
guide you to the
land of happiness.

HAPPY TOGETHER

I think that is an appropriate thing for a lunch box to say.

Tomorrow I continue my Griffith RA work at the Museum. I can't wait to see their collection. I will take this opportunity to point out that moths are flipping awesome.

Starting honours soon. I'm going to be looking at moths that live in the Nothofagus forest around Lamington.

here's a quote from Richard Dawkins I like.. he is talking about Sep 11:

"Many of us saw religion as harmless nonsense. Beliefs might lack all supporting evidence but, we thought, if people needed a crutch for consolation, where's the harm? September 11th changed all that. Revealed faith is not harmless nonsense, it can be lethally dangerous nonsense. Dangerous because it gives people unshakeable confidence in their own righteousness. Dangerous because it gives them false courage to kill themselves, which automatically removes normal barriers to killing others. Dangerous because it teaches enmity to others labelled only by a difference of inherited tradition. And dangerous because we have all bought into a weird respect, which uniquely protects religion from normal criticism. Let's now stop being so damned respectful!"

I'm reading River Out of Eden at the moment. It's rool good.

right. I'm off to Lamington to volunteer in the BATH (Biodiversity at the Heights) Project.
